C.C. Winn Lady Mavericks to play Mission Sharyland for Bi-District Championship at home

The District 29-5A fourth-place team, C.C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks, will play the District 30-5A Champion, Mission Sharyland High School Lady Rattlers, for the Bi-District Championship in a best of three playoff series with the first two games to be played in Eagle Pass on Saturday at 5 P.M. and followed by the second game at 7 P.M. at the EPISD Student Activity Center Softball Field. If a third game is necessary, it will be played on Monday, April 30th at 6 P.M. in Mission Sharyland. The Lady Mavericks will call upon their career winning pitcher senior Krystal Contreras to stop the potent Mission Sharyland Lady Rattlers as well as on seniors catcher Analaura Perez, first baseman Dulce Vasquez, second baseman Rosemary Hernandez, center-fielder Aimee Ramirez, right-fielder Gracie Cantu, and sophomores third-baseman Ronnie Valdez, left-fielder Natalie Garcia, and freshman shortstop Ariana Ruiz.
The winner of the C.C. Winn and Mission Sharyland Bi-District Championship will play the winner of the Edinburg North High School and Weslaco High School for the Area Championship next week.
The Lady Mavericks have 15 wins and 10 losses overall in the season going into Saturday’s Bi-District Championship series.
Lady Mavericks Head Softball Coach Jesse Suarez enters his final high school playoff season as he has announced his retirement from coaching and teaching after this school year. He has 583 career wins to date in his 42 years as a high school baseball and softball coaching career. Suarez is assisted by Gustavo Varela, Brenda Postry-Varela, Enrique Torres, and Corina Benavides. The public is invited to attend the Lady Mavericks Bi-District Championship series against Mission Sharyland in the comfort of the EPISD Student Activity Center Softball Field this Saturday, April 28th, at 5 P.M. and 7 P.M. and cheer the Lady Mavericks to victory.
