City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 2 closed due to bomb threat

The City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 2 located on 400 Garrison Street has been closed down today, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at approximately 10:30 a.m. due to a bomb threat on the bridge.
Federal and City of Eagle Pass officials decided to close down the International Bridge No. 2 after locating a suspicious package at the bridge.
Maverick County Sheriff Tomas S. Herrera stated that his deputy monitoring the bomb threat on behalf of his department reported that there appears to be a live grenade and a special bomb unit from San Antonio , Texas has been summoned to diffuse the extremely dangerous device.
Sheriff Herrera further stated that the federal and City of Eagle Pass authorities have primary jurisdiction of the bomb threat situation on Bridge No. 2.
Calls to City of Eagle Pass officials by the Eagle Pass Business Journal were replied with a statement that the City of f Eagle Pass had no comment until they issue a press release later today.
Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico residents have been living under great stress in recent weeks and months due to the rising insecurity in Mexico, but particularly since Monday, September 17th, when 132 prisoners escaped from the City of Piedras Negras, Coahuila state- runned CERESO prison.
Following the mass prison escape through the front door, which Mexican President Felipe Calderon described as ‘deplorable’, the City of Piedras Negras has received a massive influx of federal and state police officers as well as military special forces. All American city, state, and federal authorities have also been placed on high alert since the September 17th prison escape.
No group or organization has called to claim responsibility for the suspicious package presumed to have a live grenade which caused the closure of the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 2.
