U. S. Border Patrol Boat Agents shoot and kill Mexican citizen celebrating family birthday party

On Monday, September 3, 2012, two U.S. Border Patrol agents on an air boat patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border in southern Laredo, Texas shot and killed a 36 year old male Mexican citizen on the bank of the Rio Grande River in a Nuevo Laredo public park while celebrating his wife’s and two daughters’ birthdays.
The Border Patrol agents were monitoring a person swimming in the Rio Grande attempting to swim from the U.S. border back to Mexico.
When the Border Patrol air boat passed through the Nuevo Laredo public park where the birthday party was being held, the Border Patrol agents were heckled by the party attendees when all of a sudden the Border Patrol agents opened fire to the hecklers striking 36 year-old Guillermo Arevalo Pedroza, who died at the scene.
The Border Patrol has stated that the two agents were attacked.by rock throwers.
The tragic incident is now under investigation by the FBI.
The Mexican government has requested the United States for a full investigation of the death of Arevalo Pedroza and the actions of the two Border Patrol agents.
