Amistad Dam Inspection Facility Closed Through Jan. 19

DEL RIO, Texas – The new U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection facility at Amistad Dam is closed temporarily due to maintenance.

The temporary closure will allow for the safe demolition of the old facility, which sits atop the dam alongside the roadway. CBP opened the new state-of-the-art facility Dec. 11, replacing a building which was part of the dam’s original construction in 1968.

During the closure, international travelers are directed to use the Del Rio International Bridge, 15 miles south of Amistad Dam.

Normal traffic will resume at Amistad Dam at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.
