Mavericks scrimmage Carrizo Springs on Friday, August 16th; Eagles scrimmage Boerne Champion on Saturday, August 17th

The Eagle Pass C.C. Winn High School Mavericks will scrimmage the visiting Carrizo Springs High School Wildcats on Friday, August 16, 2013, announced Mavericks Head Football Coach Eric Villasenor. The Mavericks freshmen and junior varsity will play this Friday, August 16th, at 6 P.M. at the Eagle Pass Independent School District Student Activity Center’s Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Football Stadium. The Mavericks varsity team will play at 7 P.M. at the EPISD SAC Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Head Coach Eric Villasenor stated he looks forward to seeing his teams perform under game-like conditions against an opponent to assess what areas in offense and defense need to be worked on before the 2013 football season starts on August 30th. Head Coach Villasenor stated that junior Juan Elizondo is currently working as the starting quarterback while junior standout running back Deion Alonso will handle the ball carrying. The Mavericks will use the Slot-T offense with some Spread offense while on defense the Mavericks will use the 3-4 defensive scheme.
Coach Villasenor invites the public to attend and support the C.C. Winn Mavericks this Friday night in their scrimmage against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats as well as throughout the season. Admission to the scrimmage is free.
The Eagle Pass High School Eagles will also scrimmage this week on Saturday, August 17th, against the Boerne Champion High School Chargers at home at the EPISD SAC Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium starting at 9 A.M. with the freshmen and junior varsity teams followed by the Eagles varsity team at 10 A.M., announced Eagles Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez.
Head Coach Tom Gonzalez stated the Eagles have been working very hard and improving each day during the two a day workouts. Coach Gonzalez stated he is looking forward to Saturday’s scrimmage to evaluate how his players are doing and what they need to improve on before the start of the season on August 30th.
Coach Gonzalez also invites the public to attend and support the Eagles during their scrimmage this Saturday, August 17th, against the potent Boerne Champion Chargers and throughout the season. Admission is free to the scrimmage.
