Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board to hold regular board meeting after three months

The Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board of Commissioners is finally having a regular meeting on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 6 P.M. at the Community Room of El Centenario Building, located at 2095 East Main Street, in Eagle Pass, Texas, after a three month hiatus except for some special meetings.
Under the Citizens Communications and Recognition on the Agenda is the presentation of plaques of appreciation for outgoing Board of Commissioners Jose L. Gonzalez and Ricardo E. Calderon. Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu has reappointed Chairperson Ana M. Gonzalez to another two year term while Board Vice-President Jose L. Gonzalez declined the Mayor’s offer to reappoint him, leaving local community advocate and Board member Ricardo E. Calderon as the lone Commissioner not offered reappointment by Mayor Cantu.
Mayor Cantu has appointed Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Officer and Maverick County Constable of Precinct 1 Rudy Valdez and local attorney Rolando Salinas as new Board of Commissioners to the Eagle Pass Housing Authority. Valdez and Salinas will be given their Oaths of Office and sworn-in as new Board of Commissioners at the April 24th meeting together with Chairperson Ana M. Gonzalez. The remaining Board of Commissioners include Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Officer and Maverick County Constable of Precinct 3-1 Pete Venegas and tenant resident Delfina Morales Garza.
Also on the Agenda is the Election of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Eagle Pass Housing Authority. It is unknown if current Chairperson Ana M. Gonzalez will seek re-election to the same position or allow another Board of Commissioner an opportunity to serve the community.
The new Board will also entertain a presentation of financial statements and accounting principles of the Eagle Pass Housing Authority for fiscal year ended June 30, 2013 and take possible action on approving the 2013 audit.
Another Agenda item is the consideration and possible action on the Eagle Pass Housing Authority’s Requests for Proposals for Legal Services, which were requested in the Fall of 2013. Currently, the law firm of Langley & Banack serves as General Counsel for the Eagle Pass Housing Authority and are believed to have reapplied as well as other law firms. Langley & Banack also serves as the City Attorney for the City of Eagle Pass.
Also on the Agenda is the consideration and possible approval of an amendment to the Eagle Pass Housing Authority Personnel Policy to change the holiday list and payroll payment day.
Finally on the Agenda is the Executive Director’s Report on personnel vacancies, promotions, demotions, and/or transfers.
The Eagle Pass Housing Authority Board of Commissioners meetings are open to the public.
