Eagle Pass Man found dead at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Hotel

An Eagle Pass man, Ranulfo Avalos, age 57, was found dead at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Hotel this weekend. Avalos was the Director of the Maverick County Road and Bridge Auto Mechanic Department.
Avalos’ death is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI. Avalos’ cause of death is unknown.
Maverick County Justice of the Peace Dora Madera pronounced Avalos dead and ordered an autopsy. After the autopsy, funeral arrangements was handled by Memorial Funeral Chapels with viewing held on Tuesday, April 15th from 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. and interment following on Wednesday, April 16th.
Ernesto Guevara, Maverick County Road and Bridge Department Superintendent, stated at the April 14th Maverick County Commissioners Court meeting that “Mr. Ranulfo Avalos was an honest down to earth hard working man. It was a pleasure knowing him and working with him. He will be truly missed.”
Maverick County Road and Bridge Department co-worker, Jose Gonzalez, stated that “Mr. Avalos was a very humble man and will truly be missed by his co-workers.”
Maverick County Judge David R. Saucedo stated that “Mr. Avalos was a great person and employee of Maverick County. He will be missed.” Judge Saucedo expressed all of Commissioners Court and County employees’ condolences to the Avalos family on the loss of their loved one. Judge Saucedo asked for a moment of reverence in honor of the late Ranulfo Avalos, former Maverick County Road and Bridge Department Auto Mechanic Shop Director, at the April 14th Commissioners Court meeting.
The FBI has taken over the investigation regarding the mysterious death of Ranulfo Avalos since it occurred at the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Reservation, a federally recognized Native American Indian reservation.
