Eagle Pass Housing Authority (EPHA) Executive Director Mary D. Velasquez terminated the employment of the local housing authority’s Security Chief Officer, Homero Galindo, on Thursday, June 5, 2014, for undisclosed reasons.
The Eagle Pass Business Journal contacted the Eagle Pass Housing Authority and received confirmation that Homero Galindo was no longer employed at the local housing authority and his services had been terminated by EPHA Executive Director Mary D. Velasquez.
The Eagle Pass Housing Authority is undergoing transition as its Board of Commissioners terminated its past Executive Director in August 2013, hired an Interim Executive Director, and finally hired Mary D. Velasquez in November 2013 to become the new Executive Director commencing in December 2013.
Since the transition began, many EPHA employees have been reprimanded, demoted, terminated, or resigned under intense pressure by the new Interim and Permanent Administrations while other EPHA employees deemed loyal to the coup de etat in change of administrations have been rewarded with bonuses, promotions, and pay raises, including family members of present or past Board of Commissioners. Employee morale at the EPHA has spiraled downward since the change of administrations.
Galindo fell out of favor at the EPHA when he executed an affidavit stating that he had seen three Board of Commissioners at one of the Commissioner’s home before a Board meeting, raising the possibility of a Texas Open Meetings Act violation.
Attempts by the Eagle Pass Business Journal to contact Homero Galindo for comment were unsuccessful.
