Eagle Pass Little League Majors Baseball All-Stars Win District 35 Championship going undefeated

The talented Eagle Pass Little League Majors (12 Under) Baseball All-Stars bombarded the Del Rio National All-Stars 17-2 in the District 35 Championship game on Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Val Verde County Sports Complex in Del Rio, Texas, behind the pitching gem of Eric Heredia and four home runs including two in the same inning by Jared Roiz, Juan Guerra, and Eric Heredia.
The explosive Eagle Pass All-Stars plated seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead which they would never relinquish throughout the game.
In the second inning, the Eagle Pass All-Stars bombed the Del Rio National pitcher for four home runs including back to back by Jared Roiz and Juan Guerra, Eric Heredia, and Roiz belted a second round tripper in the same inning, scoring nine runs to increase their lead 16-0.
Del Rio National plated two runs in the top of the third inning while the Eagle Pass All-Stars added one run.
Eagle Pass ace pitcher Eric Heredia struck out the last Del Rio batter in the top of the fourth inning to win via the 10 run mercy rule, capturing the coveted District 35 Championship.
Little League Texas District 35 Administrator Gerald “Gerry” McCrary presented each Eagle Pass player and coach with a Little League Pin commemorating their District 35 championship and spoke to both teams after the game congratulating them for their sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The Eagle Pass Little League Majors Baseball All-Stars include David Lopez, Jacob Ruiz, Jared Roiz, Juan Guerra, Hector Montoya, Kevin Ochoa, Axel Rodriguez, Jorge Robledo, Eric Heredia, Jairo Maldonado, Jorge Salinas, and Sergio Lopez.
Team Manager is David Lopez and Assistant Coachers are Ricky Ruiz and Freddy Heredia.
The Eagle Pass All-Stars rolled through the District 35 opponents going undefeated with victories over Carrizo Springs 23-0, La Pryor 18-0, Kinney County 15-4, and Del Rio National 17-2. During the four games, Eagle Pass slugged 20 home runs, including six against Carrizo Springs, five against La Pryor, five against Kinney County, and four against Del Rio National.
The Eagle Pass Little League Majors Baseball All-Stars advance to the Little League Sectional Tournament which will be played at the Henry Staten and Leo Brown Little League Fields at Fort Duncan Park in downtown Eagle Pass during July 9-13th. All Maverick County baseball aficionados and youth supporters are encouraged to attend the Sectional Tournament in our own backyard, Eagle Pass.
