City Council approves exemption for Senior Citizens 65 years and Older and Disabled Veterans for Monthly Garbage and Rubbish Collection Fees who reside within City Limits

The Eagle Pass City Council unanimously approved a resolution granting an exemption for Senior Citizens 65 years and older and disabled veterans from the monthly fee for garbage and rubbish collection within the city limits of the City Eagle Pass, Texas, at a special meeting held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Mayor Ramsey English Cantu stated this exemption commences on October 1, 2014 and ends on September 30, 2015.
This monthly garbage and rubbish collection fee exemption will only apply to those senior citizens 65 and older and disabled veterans who apply for this exemption at the Maverick County Appraisal District for their residential homestead and who reside within the Eagle Pass city limits.
The City of Eagle Pass Tax Office, in coordination with the Maverick County Appraisal District, shall prepare a list of those qualified individuals and deliver such list to the City of Eagle Pass Water Works System to implement and manage such exemption in their monthly collection of the City’s residential garbage and rubbish fee.
Council member Rudy Villalpando motioned for acceptance of the resolution and Council member William Davis seconded the motion.
After discussion, the City Council unanimously approved the resolution granting the exemption to Senior Citizens 65 years and older and disabled veterans from collection of their monthly garbage and rubbish fee on their residential homestead within the City limits of Eagle Pass and who register with the Maverick County Appraisal District commencing October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015.
