Humberto Torralba, Jr. Announces his Candidacy for the Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustees
After much thought and discussion, I have decided to seek election to the Board of The Eagle Pass Independent School District. My commitment to the children of Eagle Pass public schools has been a priority since my wife and I enrolled our first child. Through the years, I have been involved in countless academic and sports activities for my children and recognize the importance of a solid school experience. In fact, I feel even stronger and more passionate today about the need to preserve and enhance the quality of the schools we as taxpayers have created. It is my hope that I will be able to continue my service to this community as a productive and useful member of the school board because I believe that our children, all of our children, are our most precious resource and that our public school system is our city’s greatest asset.
As our entire country is experiencing even greater global competition, there are many challenges facing Eagle Pass. I believe that my years of experience as a police officer with the City of Eagle Pass, having a spouse who is a teacher at Eagle Pass High School, and having five children matriculate through the system, has given me incredible knowledge of our community and our schools. These insights will serve me well to meet the increasing demands of the No Child Left Behind regulations, state and federally funded and unfunded mandates, changing demographics and rising costs.
Eagle Pass’ diverse student population has many needs. We must ensure that our children’s school experiences equip them for participation in a rapidly changing society, as responsible and productive citizens, each able to fulfill his or her human potential.
Take the time and make the right decision.
