Sexual Assault Fugitive Sentenced to 55 Years in Prison

District Attorney Roberto Serna reported this week that Juan Ramon Medrano, Jr. was formally sentenced to 55 years in the penitentiary for the offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault. Juan Ramon Medrano, Jr., had been found guilty by a Maverick County jury in December of 2011, but then failed to appear for his sentencing.
D.A. Serna noted his appreciation to the United States Marshals Service for assisting in apprehending Medrano, who was hiding in Mexico. D.A. Serna also thanked Assistant District Attorneys Robert Little and Alberto Rodriguez as well as District Attorney Investigator Erasmo Ramon and the Eagle Pass Police Department for their efforts in this case.
Medrano is also scheduled for arraignment for the bail jumping/failure to appear charge, a third degree felony, on March 24, 2015. D.A. Serna further stated that the District Attorney’s Office will make every effort to bring fugitives to justice.
