Eagle Pass Lady Eagles swept by New Braunfels Canyon Courgarettes in Regional Semi-Finals

The mighty Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles were swept in two consecutive games (6-0, 1-0) by the highly touted New Braunfels Canyon High School Cougarettes in a thrilling University Interscholastic League (U.I.L.) Softball 6A Regional Semi-Finals Championship best of three series held May 22-23, 2015, at St. Mary’s University Softball Field in San Antonio, Texas.
Despite a valiant and hard fought effort by the Lady Eagles, the Cougarettes managed to win the Regional Semi-Finals Championship on Saturday, May 23rd, in Game 2 with a slim 1-0 win over the Lady Eagles, scoring the decisive game-winning run on a wild pitch.
The Lady Eagles fell in Game 1 on Friday, May 22nd, by the score of 6-0.
The series pitted two of the best pitchers in the State of Texas with Lady Eagle Krystal De La Cruz and Cougarette Brooke Vestal engaging in two memorable games with University of Oklahoma Sooners-bound Vestal and Cougarettes coming out on top.
The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles enjoyed an outstanding season winning the 2015 District 29-6A Championship, Bi-District Championship, Area Championship, and Regional Quarter-Finals Championship. The Lady Eagles advanced for the second consecutive year to the Regional Semi-Finals, falling to the San Marcos High School Lady Rattlers last year and now the New Braunfels Canyon High School Cougarettes.
The New Braunfels Canyon Cougarettes will play the San Benito High School Lady Hounds next week for the Regional Championship with the winner advancing to the U.I.L. 6A State Softball Championship Tournament at McCombs Softball Field at the University of Texas at Austin the following week.
