5 Injured in Head-On Auto Accident on US Highway 57 in Maverick County, Texas

Five persons were injured in a head-on auto accident on U. S. Highway 57 near Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas at approximately 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, almost 15 miles outside of Eagle Pass.
A white automobile traveling east from Eagle Pass towards San Antonio and a black Ford Lobo Pick-Up with Mexican license plates traveling west from San Antonio to Eagle Pass were involved in the head-on collision.
The driver of the white automobile has been identified as Pablo Fernandez, whom was seriously injured, and accompanied by a passegner.
The Ford Lobo Pick-Up occupants have been identified as Macario Saldana, Erica Martinez, and Gloria Martinez, possibly from Mexico since the pick-up had Mexican license plates.
At least two persons were seriously injured requiring that they be airlifted by helicopter, including one, Pablo Fernandez, be airlifted at the scene of the accident to a San Antonio, Texas medical facility. The other three injured persons were transported to a local hospital in Eagle Pass by ambulance.
The serious auto collision is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Traffic on U. S. Highway 57 between Eagle Pass and San Antonio, Texas was temporarily closed for several hours to allow the rescue of the injured and investigation of the collision. Traffic is now open on U. S. Highway 57.
