Senator Carlos Uresti Appointed to Legislative Budget Board
San Antonio, TX—Senator Carlos Uresti joins the Legislative Budget Board as part of an interim reshuffling of committee assignments by Lt. Gov. Patrick preceding the retirement of two longtime state senators. Uresti becomes the first Senator who resides in San Antonio to serve on the LBB since its creation in 1949.
“I am grateful to have earned the appointment to serve District 19 and Texas on the LBB. My service on the committee will be a challenging opportunity that will benefit District 19 greatly. I look forward to hitting the ground running in the new year.” said Senator Carlos Uresti The LBB is a joint committee comprised of four members of the Senate, four members of the House of Representatives, and joint-chaired by the Lieutenant Governor and the Speaker of the House.

The Board has many authorities over budgetary functions that influence how tax dollars are allocated. The LBB also conducts evaluations and reviews the efficiency and performance of state operations.
“Our state budget is a statement of our priorities. Last session as a member of the Finance Committee I worked with my colleagues to make great strides in funding child abuse prevention, veterans services, and higher-ed—such as the expansion of Texas A&M—San Antonio. Our work is far from complete, as there exist many needs across our state. This appointment will help me build the coalitions necessary to tackle those priorities.” said Uresti.
