Hunter killed by gunfire in Maverick County, Texas

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber announced that a Connecticut State Trooper, Stephen Davis, age 51, of Hebron, Connecticut was killed by gunfire while hunting at the Cinco Ranch in El Indio, Texas on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
Davis was accompanied by another hunter at the time of the incident. One of the hunters firearm discharged striking Davis, causing his death. Sheriff Schmberber stated the incident is under investigation by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Rangers to determine if Davis’ death was accidental or not.
