Eagle Pass, Texas Eight Year Old Boy Shot and Killed with a Gun at His Home by Six Year Old Brother

A eight year old boy allegedly was shot and killed by a gun shot wound to his neck by his six year old brother at his home in Balcones Heights Subdivision in Eagle Pass, Texas on Saturday, April 30, 2016, announced Maverick County Sheriff’s Department.
The name of the child has not been released pending investigation of the tragic fatality by the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department and Texas Rangers.
The Eagle Pass Fire Department EMS was summoned to the child’s home and rushed to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment, but the child passed away from his fatal gunshot wound.
The six year old boy found and picked up his father’s 9 MM handgun at home and caused it to fire and fatally hitting his eight year old brother in the neck. The boys father allegedly works as a security guard and left the handgun at a place inside the home that was accessible to the six year old boy.
It is unknown whether any criminal charges will be brought against the father as the investigation continues.
It is unknown whether the Texas Child Protective Services will be requested to investigate the father of the child.
