Eusevio Salinas, III arrested for Transporting Undocumented Aliens

The Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department pulled over a white Ford Pick-Up Truck on Saturday, July 9, 2016 after observing multiple individuals emerge from the brush on the side of a road and jumped into an enclosed trailer being towed by the white Ford Pick-Up truck. The driver of the white Ford Pick-Up Truck identified himself as Eusevio Salinas, III, age 26, a United States Citizen.
The Dimmit County Sheriff’s Department contacted the United States Border Patrol regarding the stop of Eusevio Salinas, III, and arrived at the scene with a K-9 dog, which conducted a search of the trailer and alerted to the scent of humans inside the trailer being towed by Salinas. A total of 14 undocumented aliens were found inside the trailer towed by Salinas. All 14 individuals admitted to being illegal present in the United States. All 14 individuals were then transported to the U. S. Border Patrol station in Carrizo Springs, Texas. Special Agents with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations responded to the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Carrizo Springs, Texas to investigate this case.
According to the Criminal Complaint filed by Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Joshua Severson with the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, in Del Rio, Texas, Eusevio Salinas, III “admitted to agents that he was hired by an individual known to him as “Gallo” to pick up the [undocumented] aliens and transport them to San Antonio, Texas, where he would pass them off to “Gallo” or an associate.” The Complaint further states that Eusevio Salinas, III said “he expected to be paid $4,200 for the venture.” The Complaint further states that Eusevio Salinas, III said “that $1,500 of the payment was to be deducted as payment to “Gallo” due to a debt Salinas III owed on a previous loan.”
Eusevio Salinas, III is the son of Zavala County Sheriff Eusevio Salinas of Crystal City, Texas. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
Eusevio Salinas, III was released on an unsecured bond of $20,000 with one co-signer on July 12, 2016 by United States Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia.
If convicted, Eusevio Salinas, III faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a fine up to $250,000, and community supervision for a certain period of years.
