Eight Candidates Register for Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors Election

A flurry of candidate registrations on the last day raised the total number of candidates for the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors Election to eight, announced Chief Executive Officer Terri Contreras-Patlan.

Among the individuals registering for the local hospital district election are incumbents Ricardo E. “Rica” Calderon and Juan Manuel “Chuco” Farias as well as Rebecca “Becky” Robinson, Dr. Maria Laura Forth, Gravis Ray Bibb, Jesus Casas, CPA, Dr. David B. Land, and Dr. James Galizia.

The top three vote getters at the November 8, 2016 Election will be declared the winners of the three Board positions up for election.  A fourth Board position remains vacant due to the resignation of former Board President Joaquin L. Rodriguez and the Board has been unable to reach a unanimous decision as required by its Bylaws.

Not seeking re-election for another four year term is Board Secretary-Treasurer Humberto Duran.  Board Vice-President Ronald Hixson is not up for re-election until November 2018.
