Bright and early on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 members of the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, family, friends, and volunteers commenced a missing person search for Lucinda Robles, a resident of Quemado, Texas, who is believed to have been at her home on U.S. Highway 277 North at approximately 2 A.M. on Monday, August 22, 2016 when a commercial truck laden with highly explosive air-bag gas cylinders crashed near her home and suddenly exploded, causing Robles’ home to burn down to the ground.
Lucinda Robles has not been located since the horrific accident on August 22nd. Robles’ automobile was parked outside her home, leading investigators to believe that Robles was present inside her home at the moment of the accident. However, Eagle Pass Fire Department investigators were unable to locate any remains of her person or body inside the home after the fire was extinguished and searched.
One possible theory being considered by investigators is that possibly Robles may have stepped outside her home upon hearing the initial truck accident and while outside the highly explosive freight of air-bag gas cylinders exploded, possibly hurling her body with the significant blast of the explosion.
A son of Lucinda Robles from San Antonio, Texas arrived on Monday, August 22nd, after being notified of the accident and is cooperating with law enforcement authorities investigating the accident and whereabouts of his mother.
A two-mile wide area near the accident site felt the explosion shockwaves, sustaining damages to their homes, doors, windows, and other property.
Four persons were injured in the horrific accident, including the driver and passenger of the commercial truck which crashed and exploded and a man and woman traveling in an automobile sedan who were passing through on U.S. Highway 277 North when the explosive cargo exploded. They were all taken to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and later transferred to San Antonio, Texas hospitals.
The tragic accident is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Any person who may have information regarding the location or whereabouts of Lucinda Robles are asked to call the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department at (830) 773-2321.
