United Medical Centers Celebrate National Health Center Week August 7th-13th, Offering Free Health Fairs to Community Residents

United Medical Centers Chief Executive Officer William Worrell announced that all UMC Health Clinics and staff are celebrating National Health Center Week during August 7th-13th, 2016 and will be offering free health fairs to all Maverick, Kinney, and Val Verde Counties’ residents.
In Maverick County, UMC is hosting a free health center at its 2525 N. Veterans Boulevard, Eagle Pass, Texas Medical Clinic from 8 A.M.-12 P.M. on Tuesday, August 9th and another free health fair at its 4018 El Indio Highway, Eagle Pass, Texas Medical Clinic from 8 A.M.-12 P.M. on Thursday, August 11th. All Maverick County residents are invited to attend the free health fairs.
On Thursday, August 11th, UMC will host a public ceremony at its 4018 El Indio Highway Medical Clinic celebrating National Health Center Week with Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu reading and presenting a Proclamation from the Eagle Pass City Council declaring August 7th-13th as National Health Center Week in Eagle Pass, Texas as well as commending UMC for its extraordinary contribution to the citizens of Eagle Pass health care during more than 30 years. The public is invited to this ceremony. Refreshments will be served.
At both the August 9th and 11th Free Health Centers, residents will be eligible to receive health screenings for glucose blood sugar test, blood pressure, height and weight, and other important preventive health care information. UMC and other invited local community health care providers will be assisting all the residents who attend the free health clinics. Prizes will also be awarded throughout the free health fairs to lucky recipients.
UMC has nine health care clinics in Maverick, Kinney and Val Verde Counties offering affordable and quality health care for vulnerable and underserved families or residents.
The purpose of National Health Center Week is to enhance the visibility and profile of Community, Migrant, and Homeless Public Housing Centers and to generate community awareness and pride of the affordable and quality health care services available in the community.
Joining UMC at the Free Health Fair will be the UMC Health Education Program, Family Planning Program, WIC Program, and Dental Department.
UMC CEO William Worrell invites and encourages all Maverick County residents to attend the two Free Health Fairs on August 9th and 11th in Eagle Pass and get free health screenings, participate in the prizes giveaway, and enjoy the free refreshments.
