Early Voting Period in Maverick County opens October 24th through November 4th

The Early Voting Period in Maverick County, Texas starts on Monday, October 24, 2016 and runs through Friday, November 4, 2016 at the City of Eagle Pass Multi-Purpose Center located on North Adams Street in Fort Duncan Park with the poll opening at 8 A.M. Through 5 P.M. General Election Day is on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at designated Maverick County-wide election polls from 7 A.M. through 7 P.M.
“All Maverick County registered voters are encouraged to come out and vote during the Early Voting Period at the Multi-Purpose Center,” said Maverick County Hospital District Board of Director Ricardo “Rica” Calderon. “Take advantage of exercising your right to vote during the Early Voting Period or on General Election Day. Your vote is your voice and the key to our American Democracy, ” said Calderon.
The Maverick County Sheriff’s position has two candidates, including Republican Party nominee Anthony Ramirez and Democratic Party nominee Tom Schmerber.
There are four Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of Trustee positions up for election. For Place 1, the candidates are Juan Jose “Pachi” Olivares, Jorge Barrera, Ronnie Rivera, and Ricardo “Riche” Lopez. For Place 2, the candidates are Christopher Hiller and Ignacio “Nacho” Saucedo. For Place 6, the candidates are Hector Alvarez and Carmen Ravenna. For Place 7, the candidates are Glenna Purcell and Carmen Schmerber.
There are three positions up for election to the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Directors with eight candidates seeking to get elected. The top three vote getters are elected to the Hospital District Board. The eight candidates are Ricardo “Rica” Calderon, Rebecca “Becky” Robinson, Maria L. Forth, Gravis Ray Bibb, J. Galizia, David Land, J.M. “Chuco” Farias, and Jesus Casas.
The U. S. House of Representative, Texas District 23,race is on the ballot with three candidates vying for the position. The three candidates are Democratic Party nominee Pete P. Gallego, the Libertarian Party nominee Ruben S. Corvalan, and the Republican Party nominee Will Hurd.
The top race on the ballot features the U. S. Presidential Election with four candidates seeking the position. The four candidates are Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton, the Republican Party nominee Donald J. Trump, the Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson, and the Green Party nominee Jill Stein.
The Texas Fourth Court of Appeals Justice Place 8 race has two candidates, including Democratic Party nominee Irene Rios and Republican Party nominee Jason Pulliam.
The Texas Senate District 20 race has three candidates, including Democratic Party nominee Carlos I. Uresti, Libertarian Party nominee Maximilian Martin, and the Republican Party nominee Peter P. Flores.
The Texas House of Representative District 74 race only has one candidate, Democratic Party nominee Poncho Nevarez.
The 293rd Judicial District Attorney race only has one candidate, Democratic Party nominee Roberto Serna.
Uncontested Maverick County races include Tax-Assessor Collector Isamari S. Villarreal, County Attorney Ricardo Ramos, County Commissioner Precinct No. 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales, County Commissioner Precinct No. 3 Pete Venegas, and several Constable races. There are also other statewide elections on the ballot.
