Manuel & Mary Escontrias Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
Manuel and Mary Escontrias were married on November 19, 1966, in Eagle Pass, Texas, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
After Manuel graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Mechanical Engineering degree, they moved to Baytown where he was the first Hispanic engineer hired at the Exxon Complex and worked there just short of 40 years and retired from ExxonMobil in 2007.
They have two children, Sylvia and Manuel, Jr., daughter-in-law, Silvia, and four grandchildren, Ashly, Peyton, Taylor and Lorenzo.
They have resided in Baytown for 48 years and are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Manuel is proud to have served as an elected official for 12 years as a member of Goose Creek CISD school board, Baytown City Council and Lee College Board of Regents. They have also served on numerous community organizations and boards.
