U.S. Border Patrol Senior Agent arrested for Child Porn charges

A United States Border Patrol Senior Agent, Salvador Contreras, age 50, was arrested by federal agents on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Cotulla, Texas on federal charges of distribution of child pornography and attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.
U.S. Border Patrol Senior Agent Salvador Contreras is stationed with the U.S. Border Patrol in Del Rio, Texas.
According to the Criminal Complaint, Contreras allegedly sent numerous images depicting child pornography to an individual whom he believed was the mother of an eight-year old girl. During those communications, Contreras allegedly expressed his desire to to engage in sexual conduct with the eight-year old girl and made arrangements to travel to Cotulla, Texas to do so.
Contreras faces a minimum of 10 years to up to life in prison if convicted of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and five years to 20 years if convicted of distribution of child pornography.
Contreras will appear on Monday, December 5, 2016 before a United States Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Laredo Division, in Laredo, Texas.
All persons arrested and accused of a criminal violation are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a Court at Law.
