During the March 13-17, 2017 Spring Break of the Eagle Pass Independent School District, Eagle Pass High School and Junior High were severely vandalized by individuals wearing clown masks causing thousands of dollars in damages, announced Eagle Pass Independent School District Board President Lupita Fuentes.
Upon discovering the vandalism, the Eagle Pass Independent School District Police Department and the Eagle Pass Police Department immediately began investigating the two vandalism acts in the local schools. Extensive security camera videos were reviewed as well as many interviews of local students, faculty, and administration officials were conducted in an attempt to identify the masked vandals in the security camera videos.
As a result of the intense investigation, at least one suspect has been identified by the EPISD Police Department and Eagle Pass Police Department. Police has either interviewed or will interview the suspect concerning the vandalism to the two schools. Police suspect that there are multiple individuals responsible for the vandalism, possibly three to five including one female. Police hope to crack the case and identify the remaining suspects during this week or in the near future.
The EPISD and taxpayers have sustained damages to the two schools in the thousands of dollars. EPISD personnel had to be called during their Spring Break vacation to inventory, assess the damages, and repair the damages done to school property and equipment at a cost of several thousands of dollars. The final tally of the total damages has not been finalized by the EPISD.
Any person having information regarding these two acts of vandalism are asked to please contact the EPISD Police Department at (830) 758-7098 or the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044.
EPISD officials and taxpayers denounced the vandalism and demanded that appropriate charges and restitution of the total amount of damages be requested of the responsible individuals, including suspension from school if they happen to be local students.
