Former Lady Eagle Krystal De La Cruz Recognized as Conference USA Pitcher of the Week

San Antonio, TX- Former Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles pitcher Krystal De La Cruz was recognized as the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week on April 17, 2017 after earning two wins against the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Lady Miners as a member of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, improving her overall season record to 9-0 with an impressive 1.49 Earned Run Average (ERA).
De La Cruz hurled 10 scoreless innings, allowing only seven hits and one walk while striking out five Lady Miners. She extended her consecutive scoreless inning streak to 21 after her performance against the UTEP Lady Miners.
De La Cruz pitched a complete seven inning game, allowing only two hits while mastering the potent UTEP Lady Miners batters and struck out five, in a 4-0 win over UTEP on Friday, April 14, 2017. Then on Saturday, April 15th, De La Cruz hurled three shutout innings in a five inning, run rule win over the UTEP Lady Miners. UTEP had only been shutout once in its first 16 Conference USA games this season until Krystal De La Cruz did it twice in back-to-back games during April 14-15th.
After her two wins against UTEP Lady Miners, De La Cruz ranked No. 1 in Conference USA in earned run average (ERA) for the season with an impressive 1.49 ERA, allowing only 17 earned runs in 80 innings of action while opposing batters are hitting only .189 against her for the season.
