Eagle Pass Eagles and CC Winn Mavericks Football Teams Scrimmage August 18th, Eagles versus Somerset and Mavericks versus Carrizo Springs

The Eagle Pass High School Eagles and C. C. Winn High School Mavericks football teams will participate in their first of two pre-season scrimmages this Friday, August 18, 2017, with the Eagles facing Somerset Bulldogs at Somerset, Texas and the Mavericks battle the Carrizo Springs Wildcats at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium in Eagle Pass.
Both Eagles Head Coach Tom Gonzalez and Mavericks Head Coach Eric Villasenor stated their players are excited to get their first contact scrimmage in the pre-season against the Somerset Bulldogs and Carrizo Springs Wildcats, respectively. The Eagles and Mavericks football teams will seek to evaluate their respective players to determine which ones will become their starting offensive, defensive, and special teams players.
Both teams have been practicing since August 7th with a two a day football workouts and weight lifting.
The Eagles will travel to Somerset, Texas to tangle with the perennially tough Somerset Bulldogs with the Junior Varsity scrimmage starting at 6 P.M. and the Varsity scrimmage at 7 P.M.
The Mavericks get to stay home and host nearby Carrizo Springs Wildcats with the Junior Varsity scrimmage at 6 P.M. and the Varsity at 7 P.M. at the Eagle Pass ISD Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Staidum.
The Eagles will open the 2017 Texas High School Football Season against the potent Medina Valley Panthers on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 7 P.M. away in Castroville, Texas while the Mavericks open at home on September 1st against the Crystal City Javelinas at 7 P.M. at the EPISD Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium.
