The Eagle Pass Fire Department reported rescuing a young four year-old boy from inside a locked automobile on Monday, August 14, 2017, in Eagel Pass, Texas.
According to the preliminary investigation, the young boy was left inside the automobile but the child accidentally locked the doors with the windows rolled up with temperatures hovering over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting the parents to call 911 for assistance.
Eagle Pass Fire Department rescuers had to break the window of the automobile to open up the locked doors and rescue the four year old child from the sweltering heat inside the locked automobile.
Eagle Pass Fire Department Chief Manuel Mello reminds all parents and adults not to leave children inside automobiles by themselves because this type of accidents do happen and sometimes cause the death of children due to heat exhaustion. Fortunately, in this particular case the child was rescued timely and did not suffer any severe injuries.
Weather temperatures have been in the 100 plus degree Fahrenheit during the entire summer of 2017 in Eagle Pass and most of the southwestern United States. Parents and adults are asked to take precautions not to leave children alone inside their automobiles to avoid a tragedy from happening.
