Mexican Consul Ismael Naveja Macias Celebrates 207th Mexican Independence Day Anniversay at Plaza San Juan

Mexican Consul Ismael Naveja Macias celebrated the 207th Mexican Independence Day Anniversary on September 15, 2017, at Plaza San Juan in Eagle Pass, Texas with a beautiful and patriotic ceremony attended by over 3,000 persons.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu and Mayor Pro-Tem Yolanda Ramon joined Mexican Consul Ismael Naveja Macias in the traditional “Grito de Independencia” ceremony held at San Juan Plaza, honoring Eagle Pass’ international neighbor-Mexico.
A large festive crowd of over 3,000 persons attended the 207th Anniversary ceremony that featured Mexican musical groups, Mariachis, singers, folklore dance groups, Mexican food stands, and culture.
Proudly waving the Mexican flag, Mexican Consul Ismael Naveja Macias proclaimed the historic and traditional “Grito de Dolores,” also known as the “Grito de Independencia,” to the delight of the over 3,000 guests in attendance.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu stated that it is important for the City of Eagle Pass to support this traditional Mexican Independence Day ceremony with its neighbors from Mexico. Eagle Pass shares a unique friendship and relationship with its sister city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico and the Republic of Mexico.
