IBC Bank’s First Annual International Border Cup Won By Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico Golf Team and Raised Money For Two Cancer Support Non-Profit Organizations

Over 50 Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico golfers participated in IBC Bank’s First Annual International Border Cup during September 29-October 1, 2017 at the City of Eagle Pass Municipal Golf Course on the banks of the Rio Grande River while raising money for two local cancer support non-profit organizations.
The Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico golf team edged the Eagle Pass team after three days of competitive golfing at the Eagle Pass Municipal Golf Course to win the IBC Bank’s First Annual International Border Cup. IBC Bank-Eagle Pass President and CEO Hector J. Cerna congratulated the Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico golf team on winning the First Annual International Border Cup. Cerna presented the Piedras Negras Golf Team the International Border Cup Trophy.
The highlight of the IBC Bank First Annual International Border Cup was the fundraising to support two cancer support non-profit organizations, Candles for Life in Eagle Pass and Grupo de Apoyo a Personas con Cancer in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico.
IBC Bank-Eagle Pass President and CEO Hector J. Cerna presented a check for $1,500 to both Candles for Life and Grupo de Apoyo a Peronas con Cancer as a charitable donation to assist them with their cancer-fighting and support work in their respective communities. The IBC Bank International Border Cup’s purpose is to tee-off the month of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well as promote international friendship and goodwill between the United States and Mexico.
Eagle Pass golfer Tony Maldonado won the Closest to the Pin on the 8th Hole Competition on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He was presented a gift and prize for hitting the closest shot to the 8th Hole.
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu welcomed all golfers and guests who attended the IBC Bank First Annual International Border Cup on Friday, September 29th. Mayor Cantu was also present on Sunday, October 1st, to congratulate the winners and assist IBC Bank-Eagle Pass President and CEO Hector J. Cerna with the presentation of the awards and the $1,500 checks to the two beneficiary cancer non-profit organizations.
On Sunday, October 1st, the Eagle Pass Fishermen of God non-profit group treated all golfers and guests to a delicious South Texas-style Bar-B-Que lunch and refreshments.
