Texas Workforce Commissioner Julian Alvarez Addresses Workforce and Labor Development in Middle Rio Grande Region at Eagle Pass, TX Conference

Texas Workforce Commissioner Julian Alvarez presented the many Workforce and Labor development programs available in the State of Texas at a City of Eagle Pass, Texas Business and Economic Development Committee Conference regarding Workforce development in Eagle Pass and the nine county Middle Rio Grande Region of Texas on Friday, October 20, 2017 held at the Eagle Pass International Center for Trade.
Commissioner Alvarez is the Labor representative on the three member Texas Workforce Commission. Commissioner Alvarez was re-appointed to a new six year term on the Texas Workforce Commission by Governor Greg Abbott in March 2017 through March 2023.
Commissioner Alvarez stated that the State of Texas currently has 13.3 million workers and Texas’ economy is the seventh largest in the world. Commissioner Alvarez added that the Texas Workforce Commission’s job is to train and develop Texas workers for current and future jobs in society.
Commissioner Alvarez addressed the needs and demands of workers in the Texas Middle Rio Grande Region as well as how the Texas Workforce Commission can assist the businesses, government agencies, workers, and educational and technical institutions in fulfilling the growing demand for new job skills and requirements to satisfy the Texas economy.
