The mighty Eagle Pass High School Eagles battle arch-rival Del Rio High School Rams on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 7:30 P.M. at Del Rio, Texas for the 2017 District 29-6A Football Championship.
The Eagles are currently tied for first place in District 29-6A standings after defeating previously undefeated District leader San Antonio Southwest High School Dragons last week by the score of 18-13. Both the Eagles and Dragons are tied with a 5-1 District record and have an identical 7-2 overall season record heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Eagles will play the Del Rio Rams on Friday, November 10th, while the Southwest Dragons will play the San Antonio South San High School Bobcats. If both the Eagles and Dragons win this Friday, then both teams will be crowned 2017 District 29-6A Football Co-Champions. If the Eagles win and the Southwest Dragons should lose, then the Eagles would be crowned as the outright District 29-6A Football Champions. But if the Eagles were to fall to the Del Rio Rams and the Southwest Dragons defeat the South San Bobcats, then the Southwest Dragons would be crowned as the sole District 29-6A Champions. Both teams, however, have qualified for the 2017 U.I.L. 6A Post-Season State Playoffs regardless of this Friday’s outcome.
The Del Rio Rams enter this week’s key District 29-6A football game against the Eagles with a 2-7 overall season record and 2-4 District record. Records do not count when the Eagles and Del Rio Rams meet annually to play their storied arch-rival football game as pride and bragging rights are on the line. The Rams will be pumped up for this Friday’s game against the Eagles and will seek to upset the Eagles, denying them the District Championship or a Co-Championship.
The Eagles under the leadership of Head Coach Tom Gonzalez will be prepared and ready to battle the Del Rio Rams in quest of the coveted 2017 District 29-6A Football Championship or Co-Championship.
The Eagles will be led on offense by quarterback Richie Luna, running back Dee Andre Torres, and wide receivers Albert Guevara, Rey Mendoza, Jose Riojas, Norby Zavala, and Ralph Guerrero.
The Eagles Wrecking Crew Defense will be led by linebackers Haran Rodriguez, David Kypuros, and Roger Ulloa, defensive linemen Sebastian Hernandez, David Santos, Jr., Moises Rocha, and Mario Torres, and defensive backs Raul Lechler, Ryan Chisum, Kristian Barcena, Darwin Lechler, Joshua Monsivais, and Nico Moyeda.
All Maverick Nation aficionados are encouraged to attend the Eagles football game against the Del Rio Rams this Friday, November 10th, and support them to victory and the 2017 District 29-6A Football Championship. Go Eagles! Beat the Del Rio Rams!
