Two Train Locomotives Derail at Union Pacific Yard on Thompson Road in Eagle Pass, TX

Two train locomotives pulling a large number of railroad cars loaded with new automobiles manufactured in Mexico and being imported into the United States derailed on Friday, November 17, 2017, at approximately 11 A.M. at the Union Pacific Railroad Yard located at FM 1588, also known as Thompson Road, in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas.
The two locomotives were bringing automobile freight trains loaded with new automobiles from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The two locomotives are reported to have fallen off the railroad track for unknown reasons, causing them to derail.
No injuries were reported to the railroad crew or workers at the Union Pacific Railroad Yard in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Union Pacific had to call a large crane from out of town to be brought in to be able to lift the two locomotives that derailed, blocking railroad traffic for several hours in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The incident remains under investigation by Union Pacific Railroad.
