Eagle Pass BEDC to Host Collaborative Regional Economic Development Forum on January 25th

The City of Eagle Pass, Texas Business and Economic Development Committee (BEDC) Chairman Morris Libson, Jr. announced that the BEDC and the Middle Rio Grande Development Council (MRGDC) are hosting a Collaborative Regional Economic Development Forum on Thursday, January 25, 2017, at the Eagle Pass International Center for Trade in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The Eagle Pass, Texas and Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico international port of entry is one of the fastest growing U.S.-Mexico border ports. The Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras Port of Entry is now the largest railroad port of entry at the U.S.-Mexico border with the most railroad cars passing through on a daily basis. International trade between U.S., Mexico, and Canada continues to increase through the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras Port of Entry. Commercial truck and non-commercial vehicle traffic is continuing to increase through Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras. The future is very bright for the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras international port of entry.
The Collaborative Regional Economic Development Forum will discuss and present the salient topics of NAFTA 2.0 Update, U.S.-Mexico Border Relations, U.S. Congress support of economic growth, federal resources to support local and regional economic development, state resources to support local and regional economic development, the importance of transportation and infrastructure development to future economic development, how to support local businesses, and the latest U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Economic Development programs.
The keynote speaker for the Collaborative Regional Economic Development Forum is U.S. House of Representative Will Hurd (TX-23), who has confirmed his attendance, and invited speakers include U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), and Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Beto O’Rourke.
All state and federal agencies in both the United States and Mexico have been invited to attend this important regional economic development forum focusing on the dynamic and growing Middle Rio Grande Region of the Texas-Mexico border, said Libson.
The January 25th Collaborative Regional Economic Development Forum is open to the public and admission will be free to all interested persons and businesses.
