Eagle Passan Charged with Transporting 44 Pounds of Marijuana
Thursday, January 11, 2018, 12:10 AM: An Eagle Pass Police Officer Conducted a traffic stop on a red 1990 Dodge vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of Laredo Street and Roosevelt Street. The investigating officer conducted a computerized inquiry on the personal data of the driver identified as 24 year old Hector Jesus Hernandez of Eagle Pass. The inquiry revealed several active municipal court Warrants totaling $750.00 for Hernandez which were confirmed. Hernandez was placed under arrest for the active warrants and transported to the Eagle Pass Police Department. Officers conducting vehicle impoundment procedures located a burlap sack in the back seat of the vehicle which was consistent with those used for narcotics trafficking. A K-9 officer was requested an arrived on scene and upon deployment of the K-9 it alerted to the sack. Upon inspecting the burlap sack, 3 bundles were removed which were later confirmed to be marijuana having a combined weight of 44 pounds. Hernandez was charged with felony delivery of marijuana over 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds and presented before a magistrate where he was then remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
