Maverick County District Clerk Leopoldo “Polo” Vielma officially announced at the Maverick County Commissioners Court Meeting held on Monday, January 8, 2018 that the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office had received approval from the United States Department of State to accept applications for U.S. Passports effective on January 16, 2018 and will become a second office within Maverick County in addition to the Eagle Pass United States Post Office to accept these applications.
Vielma stated that the application process to become approved as an official U.S. Passport Office had taken a year and fulfilling many requirements. Vielma added that five staff persons within his District Clerk’s Office had received training and approved to accept the U.S. Passport applications.
Vielma introduced his assistant, Jessica Lopez, as being the manager in charge of the newly approved U.S. Passport Office at the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office, located at the Maverick County Courthouse, 500 Quarry Street, Second Floor, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Vielma noted that the Office hours for the new U.S. Passport Office are going to be Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. and on Saturday from 8 A.M. to 12 Noon.
The first official date that the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office will start accepting U.S. Passport applications is Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
Maverick Countians will greatly benefit from having a second office approved to accept U.S. Passport applications because the United States Post Office location in Eagle Pass is often very busy and crowded. As Maverick County’s population grows, the demand for more U.S. Passport Offices in the community are needed such as the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office.
