Two Maverick County Men Arrested for Aggravated Assault Charges

Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber reported that two Maverick County men, Genaro Ramos and Jose Humberto Hernandez, age 20, were arrested for aggravated assault charges regarding the March 8, 2018 incident at Balcones Heights Subdivision that resulted in an armed assault against Raul Garcia, age 22, and a 16 year old juvenile male.
Raul Garcia received a gunshot wound to his leg in the armed assault, causing that he be transported to a San Antonio, Texas medical center for treatment of his wound. The 16 year old juvenile male received a knife wound to his hand in the armed assault and required that he be treated at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Sheriff Schmerber stated the Maverick County Sheriff’s Department Detectives investigated the aggravated assault and were able to identify the alleged assailants and obtain warrants of arrest against Genaro Ramos and Jose Humberto Hernandez. Ramos was arrested at his residence on March 8th while Jose Humberto Hernandez turned himself in to the Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, March 12th.
Both Ramos and Hernandez will be magistrated by a magistrate judge and determine if they are eligible for a bond and the amount of the bond.
Sheriff Schmerber stated the investigation and case will be forwarded to the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
All persons accused of a criminal offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court at Law.
