Eagle Pass Eagles Standout Pitcher Rey Rey Mendoza, Jr. Named 2018 District 29-6A Baseball Most Valuable Player, 10 Eagles Receive All-District Honors

With the Laredo Alexander High School Bulldogs loss to the San Antonio Reagan High School Rattlers in the 2018 University Interscholastic League (U.I.L.) Region IV, 6A Baseball Semi-Finals Championship Series and being the last team from District 29-6A eliminated in the state playoffs, Eagle Pass High School Eagles Head Baseball Coach Reynol Mendoza has authorized the Eagle Pass Business Journal to announce the District 29-6A Head Baseball Coaches selection of the 2018 District 29-6A Baseball All-District Team.
Eagle Pass Eagles standout pitcher and outfielder Rey Rey Mendoza, Jr. was named the 2018 District 29-6A Baseball Most Valuable Player by the District Head Coaches for his extraordinary level of play and performance on the diamond field on behalf of the mighty Eagles, one of ten Eagles receiving All-District Honors.
Five Eagle Pass Eagles were named to the 2018 District 29-6A All-District Baseball First Team, including standout Eric Heredia as a Pitcher, standout infielder DeAndre Torres as Shortstop, standout infielder Isaac Gonzalez as Second Baseman, standout outfielder Derek Ibarra as a unanimous Outfielder, and standout designated hitter Braulio Rodriguez as Designated Hitter.
Two Eagle Pass Eagles were selected to the 2018 District 29-6A All District Baseball Second Team, including standout Edward Mendoza as Pitcher and standout infielder Isaac Roque as First Baseman.
Two Eagle Pass Eagles were named to the 2018 District 29-6A All District Babeball Honorable Mention Team, including standout Christian Del Bosque as Catcher and standout David Lopez as Outfielder.
Eagle Pass Eagles Head Coach Reynol Mendoza was named Co-Coach of the Year together with Fernando Lemus of Laredo Alexander and Bobby Bensch of San Antonio Southwest.
Two players were selected as Newcomer of the Year Award recipients, including Nate Beyer of San Antonio Southwest and Adrian Castillo of Laredo United.
The Utility Player of the Year was awarded to Daniel Quiroz of Laredo United.
