Early Voting Underway for Texas Senate District 19 Special Election, Regular Election Day is July 31st

Maverick County registered voters are now casting their ballots for one of the eight candidates running in the Texas Senate District 19 Special Election to replace resigned State Senator Carlos Uresti during the Early Voting Period from July 16-27, 2018 at the Word of Life Church, 2401 Royal Ridge Drive, Eagle Pass, Texas, from 8 A.M. through 5 P.M., announced Roy Schmerber, Maverick County Elections Administrator.
Former Congressman and State Representative Pete Gallego (Democrat) is one of eight candidates vying for the coveted State Senator District 19 seat that also includes Charles Urbina Jones (Democrat) Jesse (Jay) Alaniz (Republican), State Representative Tomas Uresti (Democrat), Peter P. (Pete) Flores (Republican), Carlos Antonio Raymond (Republican), Tony Valdivia (Libertarian), and State Representative Roland Gutierrez (Democrat).
Maverick County with over 30,000 registered voters has the opportunity to make a significant difference in the outcome of this Texas Senate District 19 Special Election if a strong showing of voters come out to vote in this important election. At the last election held in Maverick County on May 25, 2018, over 8,000 registered voters cast their ballots, placing Maverick County among the top 10 Counties in Texas with the highest voters participating in said election.
Eagle Pass and Maverick County require a strong State Senator in the Texas Legislature in Austin, Texas to assist them obtain funding and legislation for the much needed public projects necessary to transform them from rural communities to urban centers on the Texas-Mexico border similar to Laredo, McAllen, Brownsville, and El Paso. This is a key election for Maverick Countians that requires their voting in it to make a difference in the future of this community. If a disinterested candidate should be elected because Maverick Countians did not come out to vote, then Maverick Countians will not have any one to blame but themselves for not voting.

After the Early Voting Period ends on July 27th, the Regular Election Day is on Tuesday, July 31st, from 7 A.M. through 7 P.M. at polling places in each different to be announced by Maverick County Commissioners Court.
