Texas Senate District 19 Special Election Starts July 16th With Early Voting Period

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has called a Special Election to fill the term of former State Senator Carlos I. Uresti, who resigned, for Tuesday, July 31, 2018 with an Early Voting Period commencing on Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 27th.
Texas Senate District 19 represents 17 counties, including Maverick County (Eagle Pass), Brewster, Crockett, Dimmitt, Edwards, Frio, Kinney, Medina, Pecos, Real, Reeves, Terrell, Uvalde, Val Verde, Zavala, and parts of Bexar and Atascosa Counties.
A total of eight candidates registered with the Texas Secretary of State Elections Division to run for and be placed on the Official Ballot to fill the Texas Senate District 19 position.
The eight candidates who are registered include former Congressman and State Representative Pete P. Gallego (Democrat), Jesse (Jay) Alaniz (Republican), Charlie Urbina Jones (Democrat), Peter P. (Pete) Flores (Republican), State Representative Tomas Uresti (Democrat), Carlos Antonio Raymond (Republican), State Representative Roland Gutierrez, and Tony Valdivia (Libertarian).
Maverick County Democratic Party Chairman Luis Alfonso “Poncho” Ruiz encourages all Maverick County registered voters to participate in the Texas Senate District 19 Special Election during the Early Voting Period of July 16-27th or on regular Election Day on July 31st.
Ruiz noted that a State Senator is an important position in the Texas State Legislature and Maverick County needs a strong State Senator to represent it in the Texas Senate. Ruiz encourages all registered Maverick County voters to come out and vote in the Special Election.
Maverick County voters will vote during the Early Voting Period of July 16-27th at the WORD OF LIFE CHURCH located at 2401 Royal Ridge Drive, in Eagle Pass, Texas from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M., Monday through Friday. During Special Election Day on Tuesday, July 31st, Maverick County voters will vote at their designated Precinct Polls.
Please note that the Early Voting Period will be held at the WORD OF LIFE CHURCH located at 2401 Royal Ridge Drive in Eagle Pass, not the Multi-Purpose Center.
