Robert Mireles named Citizen of the Year at Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Banquet
The Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 84th Annual Banquet and Meeting on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 7:30 P.M. at the City of Eagle Pass International Center for Trade, naming longtime local banker and community volunteer Roberto Mireles, Regional Vice-President of BBVA Compass Bank, as the 2010 Citizen of the Year Award recipient.
Among the nominees for the 2010 Citizen of the Year Award included Mayor Ramsey English Cantu , Eagle pass chamber of Commerce President William “Billy” Davis, Southwest Texas Junior College Professor Jose Armando Perez, and the Fort Duncan Regional medical Center Ladies Auxiliary.
Mayor John David Franz of the City of Hidalgo, Texas and current chairman of the Texas Border Coalition was the keynote speaker at the 84th Annual Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce President William “Billy” Davis presented the chamber’s annual report for 2010 to the over 200 members in attendance.
The 2011 Board of Directors and officers of the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce were officially sworn-in, including William W. Davis, President, Claudia Rodriguez-Wright, Vice-President, Roberto Mireles, Second Vice-President, Rodolfo Barrera, Secretary-Treasurer, and Board members Juan F. Espinoza Mark Garcia, Humberto Garza, Carlos Libson, Michael Luna, Larry Martin, Raul Martinez, Sandra Ruiz-Rodriguez, and Alma V. Velasquez. Outgoing Board of Directors Saul Fernandez and Lourdes M. Perez were also recognized.
Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sandra P. Martinez also was recognized for her unselfish loyalty and dedication to the Chamber and was presented a beautiful bouquet of Texas yellow roses.
The 84th Annual Eagle pass Chamber of Commerce Banquet was a great success.
