Ready Lane opened at City of Eagle Pass Bridge No. 1
The United States Customs and Border Protection together with City of Eagle Pass officials announced the opening of a “Ready Lane” for travelers possessing a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) – enabled entry document at the City of Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1, located at 160 Garrison Street, on Monday, May 16, 2011.
A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled entry document includes a U.S. Passport, trusted traveler program card (SENTRI/NEXUS/FAST) and newer versions of the laser visa and resident alien cards.
“The purpose of the “Ready Lane” is to get travelers into the United States safely and efficiently across the border,” Cynthia O. Rodriguez, Port Director, Eagle Pass Port of Entry, said.
Each adult passenger over the age of 16 years old in an automobile entering the United States must have an RFID-enabled card to use the Ready Lane.
Attending the May 16th Ready Lane grand opening at Eagle Pass Bridge No. 1 were Cynthia O. Rodriguez, Eagle pass Port of Entry Director,
Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, City of Eagle Pass International Bridge System Executive director Marga Lopez, Maverick County Judge David Saucedo, Eagle pass City Manager Daniel Valenzuela, Maverick County Sheriff Tomas S. Herrera, and Eagle Pass International Bridge System Board of Director Sonia Shannon.
The newly opened Ready Lane at Eagle Pass Bridge No. 1 will expedite the entry of travelers into Eagle Pass and the United States.
In the future, a Ready Lane may be implemented on Eagle Pass Bridge No. 2.
