Marriott Hotels to build in Eagle Pass

Marriott Hotels and the City of Eagle Pass have announced that an 80 room Marriott Hotel will be built in Eagle Pass this year on Veterans Blvd. next to Ancira Eagle Pass Ford Mercury.
The total value of the 80 room Marriott Hotel when fully completed and furnished is estimated to be $10 million.
“We are very excited and pleased that Marriott Hotels have chosen to build a new hotel in Eagle Pass. This is a sign that Eagle Pass is a vibrant and growing community on the Texas-Mexico border,” Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu said.
The growth of Eagle Pass, the high need of hotel rooms, the high occupancy rate, and the booming Eagle Ford-Shale oil and gas play in the region are cited for the reasons why Eagle Pass was selected for a Marriott Hotel.
Construction is expected to begin within 30 days and the land clearing has already begun for this sparkling Marriott Hotel.
Also currently under construction in Eagle Pass is a new Micro-Tel Suites on El Indio Highway with owners from Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. Eagle Pass is receiving many inquiries from Mexican investors seeking to invest in the United States due to the insecurity in their homeland.
The Marriott Hotel is expected to be completed and opened in the fall of 2011.
