Geronimo Gutierrez-Fernandez to headline 18th Annual EPBJ Awards

North American Development Bank Managing Director, Geronimo Gutierrez-Fernandez, an international expert on United States-Mexico economic development, will headline the 18th Annual Eagle Pass Business Journal Awards as the keynote Speaker, announced Ricardo E. Calderon, Publisher.
“Mr. Gutierrez-Fernandez is a dynamic speaker and internationally renowned as he previously served as the Under Secretary for North America at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations from 2003 to 2006 and as the under Secretary of Government in the Mexican Ministry of Government,” Calderon said.
“Gutierrez-Fernandez was appointed the Managing Director of the North American Development Bank (NAD Bank) on October 16, 2010,” Calderon added.
The North American Development Bank was created by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), together with its sister institution, the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), to develop, finance and build affordable and sustainable environmental infrastructure projects to preserve and enhance the environmental conditions and the quality of life of U.S.-Mexico border residents.
NAD Bank works with both public and private entities to develop, finance, and build infrastructure projects that enhances the quality of life of people along the U.S.-Mexico border. To date, over $1.3 Billion of infrastructure projects along the U.S.-Mexico border have been financed by NAD Bank since its founding in 1994 in San Antonio, Texas.
The City of Eagle Pass Water Works and Sewer System and the Maverick County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 have been recipients of NAD Bank financing in the past.
“Our community is very fortunate to have Mr. Geronimo Gutierrez-Fernandez as the keynote speaker at the 18th Annual Eagle Pass Business Journal Awards,” Calderon said. “Everyone in local governmental entities, private businesses, health care entities, and citizens concerned about the future of the U.S.-Mexico border should attend the awards to hear Gutierrez-Fernandez speak,” Calderon added.
The 18th Annual Eagle Pass Business Journal Awards are on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 7:30 P.M. at the El Residencial Reception Hall, El Indio Highway, in Eagle Pass, Texas.
