Lady Mavericks head softball coach Jesse Suarez announces his retirement

Eagle Pass C.C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks Head Softball Coach Jesse Suarez announced his retirement from teaching and coaching after an illustrious 42 year career on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, after the Lady Mavericks final 2012 regular season home game at the EPISD Student Activity Center Softball Field.
Suarez began his teaching and coaching career at the legendary San Felipe High School in Del Rio, Texas in 1969.
The following year, San Felipe High School and Del Rio High School were consolidated and Suarez became the Head Baseball Coach at Del Rio High School from 1970 to 1976. He then became the Head Baseball Coach at Kingsville High School from 1976 to 1984.
He then became the Head Baseball Coach at Uvalde High School from 1984 to 1991. Eagle Pass High School then hired him as its Head Baseball Coach from 1991 to 1992. In 1994, Suarez became the Head Softball Coach at Eagle Pass High School until 2006 when Eagle Pass High School was split into two high schools with C.C. Winn High School. Suarez became C.C. Winn Head Softball Coach from 2006 to 2012. He has 583 career wins to date.
Suarez thanked everyone for making his 42 years of coaching enjoyable and his current assistant coaches Gustavo Varela, Brenda Postiy-Varela, Enrique Torres, and Corina Benavides. He also thanked his wife, Cathy, and daughter, Evangelina, for supporting him as well as his family.
