Edward Chastain named Lawyer of the Year by Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys

The Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys celebrated Law Day with its 2012 Scholarship Banquet and Fund Raiser on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the San Felipe Country Club in Del Rio, Texas.
United States Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia presented Edward Chastain of Del Rio the prestigious Lawyer of the Year Award as voted on by the members of the Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys.
Past President Michael J. Bagley of the Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys presented the Service award to Debbie Green, Deputy Clerk of the U.S. District Clerk’s Office in Del Rio.
Newly-elected President Rogelio M. Muñoz of Uvalde presented United States Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia a leadership and recognition award for being a founding member of the Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys and his dedicated service and leadership to the association.
United States District Court Judge Alia Moses introduced the guests and swore-in the new 2012 officers of the Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys, including Rogelio M. Muñoz of Uvalde as President, Erica Giese of Del Rio as Vice-President, Chris Blanton of Del Rio as Secretary, U.S. Magistrate Judge Victor Roberto Garcia as Treasurer, and Michael J. Bagley of Del Rio as Past President.
Scholarship Committee Chairman Javier Riojas of Eagle Pass presented twelve (12) scholarships to area high school graduates on behalf of the Del Rio Association of Federal Attorneys. The 2012 Scholarship recipients are Klarisa Carranza of Uvalde High School, Krystal A. Contreras of C.C. Winn High School, Armando Correa, Jr. of Del Rio High School, Alejandra L. Garcia of Eagle Pass High School, Karla Fernandez-Guerra of Del Rio High School, Brittani M. Giles of Del Rio High School, Sayuri Morales of Eagle Pass High School, Clarisa A. Rodriguez of Del Rio High School, Federico Salinas of Eagle Pass High School, Fernando Tijerina of C.C. Winn High School, and Grant M. Westbrook of Brackettville High School.
A Silent Auction of gifts and items donated by association members was held during the banquet to raise scholarship funds to deserving area high school graduating students. United States Magistrate Judge Collis White presented the Silent Auction winners.
