C. C. Winn High School Standout Jonathan Elizondo Succumbs to Cancer

C. C. Winn High School standout baseball and football player Jonathan Elizondo succumbed to his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 20 years old. Elizondo was the Team Captain of the C.C. Winn Mavericks varsity baseball team while playing catcher as well as a fierce competitor on the Mavericks varsity football team. He was stricken with cancer during his senior year at C C Winn High School. He is survived by his parents, Juan and Diana Elizondo, and two brothers, Juan Antonio and Pedro Alfonso Elizondo. Funeral services will include a viewing on Friday, July 27th, at Yeager-Barrera Mortuary and a funeral mass on Saturday, July 28th, at 12 Noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and internment following the mass. Maverick County Commissioners Court recently honored Elizondo by naming one of the baseball fields at the Maverick County Lake in his name. He was an inspiration to his parents, family, friends, teammates, and community. He will be greatly missed but is now with the lord in his heavenly kingdom.
