Dr. James J. Galizia, a Cardiologist, is pleased to announce the opening of his medical practice at the Maverick County Hospital District Physician Specialty Group, located at 3406 Bob Rogers Drive, Suite 270, Eagle Pass, Texas.
Dr. Galizia is a 1982 graduate of the New York Medical College in Brooklyn, New York. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Columbia University in New York, New York, in 1976. He did an Internal Medicine residency at the New York Medical College during 1982 to 1985 followed by a Cardiology residency at the Yale University Medical School in New Haven, Connecticut during 1985 to 1987. He also did a post-graduate residency in Cardiology at the University of Southern California Medical School during 1987 to 1988. He is a native of Brooklyn, New York and has twin daughters, age 21, living in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Galizia is very excited and enthusiastic to practice Cardiology in Maverick County, Texas. He believes there is a great need and demand for Cardiology medical services in Maverick County.
Dr. Galizia’s Cardiology medical services will be full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. at the Maverick County Hospital District Physician Specialty Group in Suite 270. Dr. Galizia will begin practicing preventative Cardiology in the meantime to acclimate himself with the Cardiology medical needs of Maverick County patients. He noted that the number one cause of illness and death in the United States is attributed to heart disease. He recommends that people not smoke, maintain their cholesterol level low and checked, maintain one’s ideal body weight, exercise 30 minutes a day, and get checked by a Cardiologist.
Maverick Countians will no longer have to travel out-of-town such as San Antonio, Houston, Laredo, Del Rio, or Uvalde to receive Cardiology medical services. Dr. Galizia’s Cardiology medical practice is full-time in Maverick County.

Galizia to satisfy the medical needs of our patients,” said Juan Manuel Farias, Chairman of the Maverick County Hospital District Board of Trustees. “We are honored that Dr. Galizia accepted our invitation to open his Cardiology medical practice in Eagle Pass,” added Farias.

Prior to coming to Eagle Pass, Dr. Galizia worked at the University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center in Tyler, Texas as a professor. He also has practiced Cardiology in Austin and San Angelo, Texas prior to teaching at the University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center. Before coming to Texas, Dr. Galizia practiced Cardiology in Los Angeles, California, Madisonville, Kentucky, and was on the faculty of Loma Linda University Medical School in California.
