Lady Eagle Sandra Mendoza verbally commits to Univ. of Texas at Arlington

2012 District 29-5A Softball Most Valuable Player and Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagle Sandra Mendoza has announced her verbal commitment to play NCAA collegiate softball with the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks in 2014.
Mendoza is a junior at Eagle Pass High School and is a two-year starter with the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles under Head Softball Coach Oscar Ruiz. During her freshman year in 2011, Mendoza earned Newcomer of the Year honors in District 29-5A in softball. Mendoza earned the prestigious Most Valuable Player honors during her sophomore year as shortstop for the Lady Eagles in 2012.
Mendoza also plays locally during the summer with the Eagle Pass Baseball-Softball Association affiliated with Little League Softball and previously with Babe Ruth Softball.
Mendoza gained the attention of many college softball coaches while playing for the Texas Bombers softball traveling teams headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas during the past two years.
The University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks are an NCAA Division I softball program and currently compete in the Western Athletic Conference and are scheduled to play in the Sunbelt Conference in 2014. The UTA Mavericks softball program is under the direction of Head Coach Kristie Fox.
Mendoza’s verbal commitment to the UTA Mavericks softball program is non-binding due to her junior class status although she is very pleased and excited to verbally commit to the UTA Mavericks in 2014 upon her high school graduation.
