Hit and Run Accident Driver arrested

Eagle Passan Luis Eduardo Lira was arrested on Sunday, December 16, 2012, for driving while intoxicated and fleeing the scene of an accident after causing an accident.

At approximately 4:43 a.m. on Sunday, December 16th, Lira crashed his pick-up truck into a home at 1142 Rio Grande Street in Eagle Pass, Texas, causing damages to personal property.

People inside the residence were alarmed and awakened by the loud noise of the accident and immediately called 911 to report the accident to the Eagle Pass Police Department. Lira reversed his pick-up truck and accelerated his truck causing to free his truck from a cyclone fence he had crashed into and fled the scene of the accident but the Eagle Pass Police Department quick response to the scene of the accident allowed them to detain Lira about a half-block from the accident. Persons inside the home identified Lira and his pick-up truck as the responsible party which caused the accident.

Eagle Pass Police Officers Joe de la Garza and Orlando Escareno interviewed Lira and the witnesses and subsequently arrested Lira.
